There is a temptation when you start a business to think paid advertising is the only way to go. After all, it is a quick way to jump start a new business and there is nothing wrong with that. But a true entrepreneur knows there are no quick fixes. If you are in it for the long haul, you need organic marketing to be a part of your marketing strategy. It should be the basis for all your marketing efforts and how you decide what content to promote.
It will also be the source of you most loyal customer base. Clients organically sourced are three times more likely to become brand ambassadors. If you are buying likes and follows, you're paying to be popular and once the cash runs out, so do the likes and follows. Organic marketing promotes scalable, long-term growth.
The issue is, many business owners and, a lot of marketers, believe organic marketing is a lot of work for very little payoff. Shouting into the void, if you will.
It certainly can seem that way.
So, how do you make organic marketing pay off?
Strategy and consistency.
There are three keys to successful branding:
Educate and Inform – What does your business do and why are they the better choice for your customer?
Entertain – Your hero story, a behind the scenes video, a funny anecdote about how your business saved the customer's day, etc.
Call to Action – Like/Follow/Subscribe are great starting points for your social media calls to action, of course it never hurts to ask for the sale as well!
That is your strategy. Three posts, consistently. Whether it is three posts per week or, as we recommend at GRM, three posts per day, using the three keys, will make your business stand out as authentic and an authority in what you do.
